Using energy thoughtfully is climate smart. At Memo, we continuously strive to reduce our energy consumption by choosing the right electricity supplier, minimising waste in production and improving energy efficiency in our facilities.
Continuously reducing our energy use is a central part of our sustainability work. We take energy aspects into account in all purchases and investments. We also work continuously to reduce our own energy consumption by constantly improving efficiency in our production.
We use only green electricity that meets the relevant local environmental labels. The electricity powering our production therefore comes from renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and hydropower – all of which also take biodiversity into account.
Injection moulding is, by nature, energy intensive. That is why efficient cooling of the machines is crucial. Compared to production conditions in many other countries, we can take advantage of the cold Swedish climate. For up to seven months of the year, we rely solely on the low outdoor temperature for free cooling of our machines, allowing us to completely shut down the compressor in our cooling system – a highly energy-efficient solution.
In the consumer world, material recycling is a given – for glass, aluminium, PET and more. With industrial plastics, however, most granulates are still produced from virgin material. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Recycled plastic components can be turned into new granulates and new plastic parts – often with the same quality at a lower cost and with reduced climate impact.
